Publications

Connexions
Online journal, 1997–2003 (six issues)

An online journal for work-in-progress in cognitive science, founded in 1997 by Gavin Boyce and Keith Frankish (PhD students, Department of Philosophy, University of Sheffield), with Tom Dickins (PhD student, Department of Human Communication Sciences). Sponsored by the Hang Seng Centre for Cognitive Studies.

The name reflected the editors’ interest in connectionist models of cognition and the interdisciplinary character of cognitive science. The journal produced two issues a year in 1997–98, with subsequent issues in 2001 and 2003 (the latter in an open peer commentary format). After ceasing publication, the archive was hosted by The Open University and moved to this site in 2021.

Evolving Ideas
Blog, 2005–2009

A blog on topics in evolutionary biology and psychology, run collaboratively by Tom Dickins, Ben Dickins, and Keith Frankish. The blog featured discussions of evolutionary theory, evolutionary psychology, cognitive science, and related topics, including guest posts and commentary on current research.
