Looking through old teaching materials, I found a little philosophical story I’d written as an exercise for students of my first-year introduction to philosophy of mind course at Sheffield in the mid-1990s. I thought it was moderately amusing and that others might like to see it, so here it is. I have tidied it up and removed the exercises that accompanied it, but I haven’t attempted to update it. I enjoyed this, great stuff! I thought the depiction of Searle (I assume it was Searle) was quite funny. Still not sure who the Guy Fawkes person was supposed to be though; I took him to be an abstract representation of the Deepak Chopra’s of the world.
